Pinned Up Mondays...

Good Morning!

I am taking a week off - I know, I know, I just took a week off a few weeks back, but I have my first boutique next weekend that I'm working on, a whole new backdrop, products plus the normal orders to fill!

If you're looking for something fun to do this weekend, come down to the Penelope Lane Boutique in Seal Beach!  I'll be there with...

and

NEW Covers that I haven't even put in the shop yet!

and purses...

Flocked Linen Purse...

But I'm also debuting NEW Chevron Purses that I LOVE!

I'll have chalkboard products coming out the wazoo... like labels, signs, I Love You Because Signs, Globes, mugs, platters, tags... if I can chalk it up, it was chalked!

and fun Halloween goody boxes that I recently added to my shop...

Witch Goody Bag - a cello bag filled with treats sits inside her!  Isnt' she cute!?

And so much more!

Sarah and Nancy of Penelope Lane are heading this up so I know it'll be a ton of fun!  There are a lot of great vendors, including Little Wellies, Earth Cookies and so many more!  Oh, and did I mention everything that I'm taking to the boutique will be on sale!?  Yep, on sale!  I figure you should get something for coming on down!

Have a great week, I'll see you next Monday!

Pinned Up Mondays! Kid Style

Good Morning!

I hope you all had a great weekend!  We had a productive, fun and happy one!  My Mom came over Saturday morning and helped me cut/assemble some spooktacular Halloween Goody/Candy Boxes for the shop and upcoming boutiques...

{Batty Goody Box from Kutz. Paper. Scissors}

{Monster Cupcake Holder Box from Kutz. Paper. Scissors}

Aren't they cute?  I love them!  And they're so easy to assemble!  There's a ton more in the shop and I have more to add still!  Everything from spiders to pumpkins and coffins, I LOVE Halloween!

We also had our bi-weekly Yokley Family Dinner, where we ate and played Apples to Apples...  Its such a fun, easy game to play with a group!  Just be careful, if you get a card that says "Shocking" and you don't choose the players card that says "Electricity", you might never live it down!  Thanks, Dad, for letting me live in the "Gray" while you live in the "Black & White"!

Okay, so onto our Pinned Up Monday!  Today I'm sharing a fun, quick and easy activity that will get you and your kids outdoors, exercising and observing!

If you click on the link above, you'll be taken a site where you can print off a few different scavenger hunt pages...  I printed off a few a while ago and kept them on hand.  One afternoon we needed something to do, something to get us out of the house and change our attitude/focus!  I let Adam choose between the Neighborhood Hunt and the Nature Hunt - we went with the Neighborhood Hunt!

Adam and I looked over the items we were supposed to be hunting for.  By the time we got to the end of our drive way, we were halfway done!

Adam rode his bike while I walked behind him - he's pointing out the fire hydrant for the list.

It didn't take us too long to get everything crossed off!  We went around a second time, going the opposite way that we'd been to see if we could find everything on our list again.  It was funny how observant he was, he'd tell me the differences between the truck he first saw and the truck we found on our second round.  It's a fun way to learn about differences, observation and perseverance  - it was "taking for-ev-er" (Adam's word choice, not mine) to find a kitty the second time around... I can't imagine why they'd hide from a loud, bicycle riding boy with a monster on his head barrelling in their direction, can you?!

Have a great day!
See you Wednesday!

DollarTree Halloween Craft!

Happy Friday!

Phew!  I made it through a whole week of blog posts on days when I promised to post!  I will get back in the hang of this... I promise!

Okay, so I am a huge fan of the Sisters over at eighteen25, if you've never stopped by their blog, you should!  In fact, go there as soon as your done here!  Anyways, they're having a Spooktacular September where it's all Halloween all September long (spoiler alert... you may see something from KPS at some point...) and one of the first projects that they shared were these guys...

I loved the mounted skeletons!  Love the embroidered 31 too, want to do something similar... anyways - focus!  I was at The DollarTree a few weeks back and they had just gotten their Halloween items out and I saw all of the makings for a slightly different version of Mr and Mrs Skeleton...

I grabbed a tombstone, plastic skull, black roses, spider rings, spooky fabric, a black bird and got to work!

First, I took my tombstone, traced the outline onto Echo Park Halloween paper and then Modge Podged the paper onto the tombstone...  I also added chunky black glitter to the edges of the tombstone.  Have I mentioned I like glitter?

I then painted Bones white - I didn't really like the off-white - I like my bones clean!

and then I put glitter all over her.  She's glitteriffic!

Skulls can't be scary with glitter all over them!

I laid her on the tombstone, but she didn't really stand out from the paper...

So I added the spooky netting...

I didn't like it covering the entirety of the tombstone, so I cut a hole in the netting that would fit over Bones and then cut a ragged edge around the netting, so it would frame her lovely ehhh.... bone structure.

I hot glued her head and the netting place, smack in the middle of the tombstone.

I added a random witches hat that I had - I probably got if from either Michael's or Joann's last year at the after Halloween sale.

She still looked a little lonely, she needed a friend... or friends.

I grabbed the bag of spider rings and set them free - I cut off the rings with ordinary scissors.  Yay!  Friends for Bones!  I glued them in a line where the 2 patterned papers met on the tombstone.

I also thought she needed a friend who could keep the spiders under control, so I added the blackbird to the top of the tombstone...  I don't think birds and spiders are the best of friends.  More like frenemies.

Viola!

Ms. Bones!  I plan to hang her from our doorway.  I might even make her a Mister Bones.

Okay, go over to eighteen25 now!  You'll be so happy that you did!
Have a great weekend, and thank you for stopping by today!

Cards based on Sketches

Hello!

Phew!  I bet you were wondering if I was going to post today... I have to admit, I did almost forget, but here I am with fun cards based on sketches to share!

Remember these sketches?

Well, I made a few card samples based on these sketches for a class...

And I wanted to share them...

Now, the one above and the one below are actually based on the same sketch...

I mimicked the "lines" from the top one with the chevron pattern on the bottom one.  I clustered the labels and embellishments on either side of the cards per the sketch.

Now, the 2 below are based off 1 of the sketches above with the sunburst on the bottom...

I used a sunburst on both cards with an image on the center (just like the sketch), but the cards so different, you may never know that the two were based off the same sketch.  I used my Silhouette and the QK Nesting Stars on the cards, I love how versatile the sunburst is, you can pretty much turn the sunburst sketch into any style, from Romantic to Country!  I even have a Halloween one in my head, just "dying" to get out!

I'll share a few more later this week!  Have a great day!
Andrea

Pinned Up Mondays...

Good Morning!

I've missed you all!  Thanks for joining me!

Sorry for the slight, ummm, absence?  We've been sick, working, schooling, all of the usual stuff and every day I would think, "I need to post something... anything... even if it's just all of our sickie Kleenexes or the piles and piles of laundry!"

But today, I have something better!  I actually have something I made that was inspired by something I'd pinned!  Ya!  Pinned Up Monday is back!

I found these...

Now, I love me some chalkboard paint!  Sometimes I dream about painting my husband in chalkboard paint so that he's always saying exactly what I want to hear...

Anyways - I wanted to try my hand at chalkboard paint on a mug/dish, so I headed over to the Dollar Tree and grabbed a few items to paint.

I'm very much in the Fall frame of mind, so the olive green and the burnt orange jumped right into my cart (without getting chipped!).  I then used blue painters tape and taped off where I didn't want the paint to be and grabbed my Chalkboard Spray Paint by Krylon.  I decided to use the spray paint opposed to the paint on variety because I hate loathe brush marks.  I sprayed 3 thin coats of the paint onto the mugs and let them dry.

Here you go!

These are great for the every day message.  You could also leave a reminder, like... "Don't forget your briefcase!" or "The dog doesn't walk himself..."

Or you could do a seasonal message... or let the kids draw on their own mug so that there is no confusion and bickering.  I'm pretty sure if chalkboard paint could solve kid bickering, my Sister would've painted everything in their world with the stuff!

There you go!  Chalkboard mugs!

Have a great day!  I'll see you Wednesday!
