Page's from the Heart Design Team Reveal

Hello!

Today is my turn over on the Page's blog...

My assignment was to create a 1 page layout using WeR's Vintage T collection.  Our only stipulation was that we had to include a calendar idea on our layout, the interpretation of the calendar was totally up to us.  Here's what I made...

Once I saw the paper, I knew that I wanted my layout to be about a train trip on the MetroLink that we'd taken into LA Union Station... and where Adam got his green guitar!

Instead of doing a monthly or daily calendar, I decided to do more of a timeline of the events of the day.  I used a brown paper bag behind my hand stitched timeline.  I cut strips of white paper and wrote the times and where we were doing and placed a picture above each of the different times.

I punched out different shapes and clustered them towards the bottom right corner of my timeline.  I added button and a penny, along with the cassette tag for interest.

My title was super simple, I backed the stickers with a Jillibean Kraft Tag and used WeR Letter Stickers for the focus of my title.

To keep the eyes moving, I added half a circle and a strip of patterned paper from my scraps along with a hand cut cassette.

I love that this layout highlights Adam's road to being a musical legend!

Have a great Monday!!

Pages for Pages

Hello -

I hope you all had a great weekend.  I taught my banner class at Pages, had a great time even though I barely had a voice to speak of!  I think that I left more excited about banners than my students!  Yay!  I love talking crafting with other crafters - it's amazing what you can come up with!

Today is the start of the Page's September Design Team reveal and since I decided to go in alphabetical order, my layout is the first one!  Take a look!

Our assignment was to complete a 2 page layout using paper supplied by Pages.  I had Crate Paper's Farm House line, and while it might not be an obvious choice, I love the way it turned out!  Here's some close ups of the 1st page.

And here's the 2nd page of the layout.

I think that my favorite part of the layout is my journaling.  I often struggle with journaling, but this time I gave each photo a number (either sticker or rub-on) and then journaled underneath the photos by numbers.

Head on over to the Page's From the Heart blog to check out more of my layout - and I'll be posting a flag making tutorial there tomorrow, so you'll want to check that out!  Also, Page's is having an open Design Team Call, so go check it out and submit your work!  We're looking for crafters just like you!

See you soon!

Not the game plan...

Today's post was supposed to be different, with a funny little quote to start your week off right and a recap of my Shop Hopping and Queen Bee Market experience... but I have a sick little boy (and I'm feeling a little under the weather), so I'm going to cheat a little!

Today is my turn to share my DT project over at the Page's Blog - so please check it out!

I used Distress Crackle Paint in Picket Fences, Tattered Angels Glitter paint , a ton of fun paper from Authentique and a lot of sweet buttons, ribbon and twine!  Here's a few more pics, but you'll have to visit the Page's blog to see a lot more!

See you tomorrow!  Hope the start to your week is great!

I'm growing a twine tree!

I wish it was a money tree, but I do like twine, so I'm cool with it.  The tree was from the $1 bin at Target.  I used WeR's Fiesta paper line for this Pages Design Team project - this centerpiece goes along with the table banner that I created - you can check it out here.

Yep.  That's baker's twine "God's Eye's" hanging from the tree.

I also rolled flowers from WeR's Fiesta Line and glued them to the branches.
I then cut strips of paper and glued them around the base of tree - it was a green pot before and now it totally goes with my theme!  It was a little tedious, I slightly overlapped each strip, but I love the finished product!  I added the "ole" dimensional sticker with pop-up tape and a little more baker's twine.

And that's all wrapped up!

I'll be sharing a tutorial on how to create my God's Eye's later this week - if you want to see any of the posts on any of my Design Team projects, check out Page's blog:

Happy Monday!

Ole!

Today is my day over at the Page's Blog - so I'm going to share my project here but if you want more details, you'll have to look over there!

It's a table banner - I used an accordion mini-album style for the format of my banner.  It's easy, doesn't take any special tools or anything... I don't know why I hadn't thought about it before!

I was assigned to use WeRMemories "Fiesta" line - it's bright, it's colorful, it makes me crave tacos like no other!

I used a scallop circle punch and then wrapped bakers twine around the scallops, like a "God's Eye" - I made a ton of those when I was little.  I embellished with WeR's dimensional stickers.

Well, that's it!  Like I said, you'll get a more complete post over at Page's blog - check it out!

And, if you're interested in making on the wrapped scallop do-dads, stay tuned because a tutorial is coming your way next week!

I'll be at Collective Journey's teaching Shaped Cards on Saturday (there's still spaces...) and at Page's from the Heart on Sunday teaching 2 classes, one page layout class and one card class!  Call for more info!

Hope you have a wonderful weekend!

Sew Funky...sew much going on

The Sew Funky Vintage and Handmade Market has come and gone... here's a pic of my booth area.
Carrie and Michelle stopped by to say "Hi", which was so cool and supportive!  And Rosa and her girls... I'm lucky to have such cool people in my life!  The Market was hopping, seriously, most of the day the aisles were packed with people.  It was a great show and I met a lot of other really cool vendors/bloggers that I'm hoping will do a little guest blogging over here at Kutz...

My very good, awesome, goes way back (I have a picture of her in an Indian costume at my 5th grade Halloween party, that's how way back we go) created a Facebook page for my Etsy Shop - it's www.etsy.com/shop/ayokleyjessup, and I'm trying to figure out how to put a "like it" button here on the blog.  I added a lot of inventory to my shop this weekend, so if you get a chance, check it out.

Tomorrow you should head on over the Page's blog to see the Challenge winner (it's a cool project) and this week we'll be starting to post the DT's July projects... if you like a good banner (and who doesn't), then you'll like these projects.

And speaking of banners... If you noticed in my booth pictures, I made more paint chip banners... I was pretty sure that I was going to get arrested at HomeDepot because I picked out almost every paint chip that Martha Stewart has to offer and put around 100 paint chips in my purse... and the alarm kept going off at the door and I was sweat'n because I started to worry that maybe once you pass 50 paint chips, each one was $1 or something and I was going to have to explain to the security that I'm not a deviant, just a crafter.  AND, the extra funny part is, that the first item I sold at Sew Funky was a banner that I'd made for decor for the booth with no intention to sell!

And, this is my last "and" - I googled my name today and saw this http://www.webfamilyny.com/stories/2011/7/fp_nandn_bodybib_2011_07.html, which is a blog that talks about my baby body bibs in my Etsy shop and I never even knew it!  Isn't that cool?  I think it's cool.

Okay, I'm going to bed before I think of another "and"!  Remember to check Pages tomorrow!

Happy July Fourth Weekend!

Hello!

I am so happy that it's a 4 day weekend in our household... 4 days off together... sigh.  It's a great thing.  We're also taking a little overnight trip on the 4th to San Diego so we can go to... drum roll please... Legoland!  Whoot whoot!  Adam has no idea what legoland is, but he knows that it's exciting!  We also get to watch fireworks from the beach, which is always so amazing.  Anyways, I wanted to show you a little of what I've been working on lately... just in case you're taking advantage of this long weekend to get some crafting done!

For the Page's DT challenge this month we were supposed to work with a grid design.  So, here's my layout:
I did a pumpkin patch/Halloween page... I know, it's a little strange in June but it's what worked!  So, I painted my background and then sewed on a grid with my sewing machine.  I then added wallet sized photos of the two cutest little pumpkin hunters EVER!  I cut from MM Toil and Trouble Halloween paper the "Double Double Toil and Trouble" little poem and used it as my title.  Here's a few close-ups.

I used little miscellaneous doo-dads on the rest of the squares... transparencies, buttons, patterned paper, work stickers... this is a great way to use scraps!

Here's a card that I created with the same grid concept.  This was a super quick card - took me about 10 minutes.  Take a look.

I punched out a few scallop circles and glued them down, evenly spaced.  If my sewing machine hadn't have been put away, I'd have sewn down the centers of each scallop circle.  I added a punched star with button on one of the circle, then a little tab at the top and a Pink Paislee Soiree number stamp on the top.  When I figure out who gets this card for their birthday, I'll put clear dew drops over the number of the birthday!

If you want to see more of the challenge, head on over to www.pagesfromtheheart.blogspot.com.

And, here's 2 cards that I'm going to be teaching in July's card class at Collective Journey.  Call them and sign up if you're interested - 909.793.2200.  The class date is July 16th, 10:30-1:00.

AND

Have you guessed the theme?  It's a shaped card class.  We'll be creating 5 cards that all are different shapes - it was fun creating these cards because once you have a shaped card, making it cute is pretty easy!

I'll share more of the cards from the class next week, or you can stop into Collective Journey's to see the samples.

And one more picture to share!  Phew - this is a long post!  My BFF (19 years and counting) was in town from KY for a few days and our kids got to play together... there's not much that I like better than watching our kids play together.

Hope everyone has a great and safe 4th!

A new layout to share!

Hmm, so, I'm down to a new post a week.  Not really where I want to be, but it's better than not posting at all, right??  I've been debating about taking a hiatus from the blog world, like taking a month off till I get back on track with all of my work obligations and being a Mommy.  What do you think?  Blogging takes a lot of time and since I already do one Design Team blog every morning at Pages, doing mine falls to the wayside.  As does the laundry, cleaning... you get the picture.  But, I decided to not stop blogging and just to limit my posts, so this is a apology in advance for the haphazard posts over the next month or so.  Okay, now that that's out of the way, here's a Page's Design Team 2 page layout.

Little Firecracker Layout

I know it's a little difficult to see, but I machine stitched around the banner/picture square and I used my sewing machine to create the fireworks.  Here's a few close ups of the stitching.

Sewn firecrackers with rhinestones

Since part of our DT assignment was to sew on one of our projects, I grabbed my machine and tried to think of a unique way to use it.  I figure that using it to create an image would be pretty cool and I really like the way it turned out.  I added the different color rhinestones in different clusters to give the fireworks the "bang" that they need!

Here's a few closeups of the banner, embellishments and a picture pocket that I created.

Banner

Die cuts as a title

Pocket with stitched border and picture in center

Embellishment with journaling tag

Die cuts stick in pocket for journaling
I used My Minds Eye American Made paper line for my projects and I absolutely love it!  I love how versatile it is!  If you remember, I used some of the paper in a vintage dress form card from a few posts ago.  I used a sketch from http://www.sketchsupport.com/ for my inspiration, you should check out their website if you're looking for an idea!

That's it for today (maybe this week?).  I'll be back as soon as I can !

My Pages DT Layout

It was my turn again today to post a project from our May kits... so I posted a layout!  I was inspired by a sketch that I saw on the OA website that Roree Rump created -
But, since I did the layout last, I had used most of my Nikki Sivils patterned paper all up!  I had to be creative, I sort of felt like Pooh Bear, sitting down, thumping his temples and saying "If I could only think a thought..." and then my eyes fell on my sewing machine.  A light went off.  Thread makes lines... so, here you have it, my interpretation of the above sketch with limited paper but a super cute little boy that would make any layout a.dor.a.ble.  Seriously.

My favorite part... the sun-clouds combos in place of butterflies.  I seriously had very little paper to work with, but was determined to use what I had and not cheat, so this is what I came up with.  But, it has all the elements that I love: simple, clean lines, white space, embellishments...

Check out the Pages blog for more details!

I'm out at Page's tomorrow for our PageMaps layout class - I think I have room for 1 more... call MaryJo (Kathy's still in Alaska!) to sign up!

See you all Monday!
